EXCERPT:
“So the first thing we need to do is make sure your vibration is too high for the demon to make it through,” Jonah explained. “It would have been tremendously helpful if you’d actually listened to me yesterday, but since you didn’t, we’ll have to do what we can. Do you still have the piece of quartz I gave you, at least?”
Kaylie nodded and took it out of her pocket. “I feel better having it with me, for some reason.”
“Because it’s protecting you from the demon,” Jonah said. “Sit down.”
Kaylie glared at him for a moment then did as he said. “What do I do?”
“Start with the affirmation I told you yesterday,” he instructed. “I intend to raise my vibration to higher and higher levels. Shanna, it wouldn’t hurt for you to say it too.”
“I intend to raise my vibration to higher and higher levels,” Kaylie and I repeated in perfect unison.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a flicker of black. Without knowing where the information came from, I knew I couldn’t let Kaylie become aware of it. But Jonah needed to know. I nudged him and tilted my head toward where I’d seen it. Jonah glanced over and nodded. “Say it again,” he told us.
“I intend to raise my vibration to higher and higher levels.” Again Kaylie and I spoke in chorus. This time, I felt a pulling sensation in my stomach, below my rib cage. After a second I remembered that as the location of the third energy center, according to Jonah, though that didn’t mean much to me.
The flicker showed itself again. This time, Kaylie spotted it. “There it is!” She covered her eyes. “Make it go away!”
“Kaylie.” Jonah’s voice was low and quiet, like when he’d done the visualization with her at school. “Don’t be afraid. If you fear it, you give it power over you. And you lower your vibration.”
“You try having a demon following you and see how unafraid you are!” she shrilled.

Jonah never planned on having a friend as close as Shanna. However, he’s honored to call himself her friend. She’s intelligent, funny, and wants to learn from him. If only she would realize how much she has going for her and how special she truly is, Jonah’s sure things would be better for her. And if only he could find proof that Shanna’s mother abuses her, he’d be able to help her change her life for the better.
When a vision alerts Jonah to a threat to our entire Universe, his concerns about Shanna have to take a back seat. An entity from a reality completely unrelated to ours wants to come to our world. Unfortunately, doing so will vaporize everything in existence. To come through, the entity must use a human as a portal, and it’s up to Jonah to find that human and to persuade Shanna to help him raise the person’s vibration without letting Shanna know the extent of the danger. Finding the human is easy: Julie Mackenzie, a girl at Jonah’s school who has autism, is clearly bombarded by entities trying to take her over. Getting Julie’s father to let Jonah and Shanna help her, however, is much more difficult. Can they treat Julie’s energy system, block the entities from her, and raise her vibration before the other entity succeeds in using her as a portal?

Although Shanna’s father doesn’t pay much attention to her, he does provide some buffer between her and her mother. But now her father has moved out, her mother has a new man, and things at home are getting worse. At least Shanna has Jonah. His concern for her both moves and confuses her. She doesn’t know how to respond to someone caring that much. And although she knows Jonah is aware of her mother’s abuse, Shanna refuses to tell him the truth about her bruises and other injuries. Being with her mother, while hard, is at least familiar. Shanna fears what will happen if she reports the abuse.
As Shanna tries to cope with the changes at home, she learns that her friend Tammi has made contact with a dead spirit. A spirit who would very much like not to be dead anymore, and has chosen to try to take over Tammi’s body. When Shanna attempts to help Tammi, the spirit attacks energetically, which causes Shanna more anger than harm. With Jonah’s guidance and help from Tethys and Shiva, a being of light also known as a Hindu god, can Shanna sever the cord connecting Tammi and the spirit, and send the spirit on to the Between?
